T.V.: Trans Child will star in Modern Family
Los Angeles: One of TV’s first openly trans child actors is to star in ABC’s Modern Family.
Eight-year-old Jackson Millarker has been cast in the hit US Comedy as Tom, a new friend of Cam and Mitchell’s daughter Lily.
In the upcoming episode, called A Stereotypical Day, Lily invites Tom over for a playdate, appearing initially open-minded about him. However, to Cam and Mitchell’s disappointment, they hear her insult Tom and decide to teach her a lesson about acceptance.
The episode was directed by Ryan Case, who posted a photo of herself and Jackson on Instagram with the caption: “This is Jackson Millarker. He’s 8 years old, from Atlanta, and just happens to be transgender“.
“He plays Lily’s friend Tom in this week’s Modern Family and he’s wonderful. One of the many reasons I love being a part of this show.”
