Colombia: Gay Marriage is Legal
The Supreme Court of Colombia recognized the same sex marriage. Since this thursday, Colombia is already part of the countries where marriage is legal between same sex couples.
By now, homosexual couples joined together through a legal feature called “Solemn Union”, but it was not clear the rights LGBTI community had, and they were not legally recognized.
This last step was necessary to give this part of colombian society its rights, because since novembre 2015 the same Supreme Court recognized adoption to gay people.
From now on, the Supreme Court allow all genders the right to marriage, and no public official or notary may deny to celebrate these unions.
